Simon Faure has been in the automotive industry for over 20years, including roles as a senior technician for both BMW and Subaru brands,as a mechanical assessor for Allianz Insurance, and is currently working as anautomotive teacher and courseware creator in the TAFE sector.

Simon is in charge of the Electric Vehicle Trainingdepartment for Kangan Institute, which is located at the Automotive Centre ofExcellence (ACE) in Docklands. The training facility boasts state of the arttraining equipment and facilities, and a purpose-built electric vehicle traininglab. Simon and his team are leading the way with upskilling Victoria’sworkforce to meet the service and repair demands of the quickly expanding EVmarket.

Some of Simon’s training clients include “MyCar Tyre& Auto”, who are upskilling their workforce due to their partnershipwith BYD as an aftersales provider, “Sheen Panel Service” whohave new challenges with repairing damaged EV’s, and also with The “AustralianManufacturing Workers Union” (AMWU) to upskill heavy vehicle bustechnicians to work with the Battery Electric Busses (BEB’s) that have beenrolled out across Melbourne as part of the Zero Emission Bus Transition.

Simon has also spent significant time training with currentEV technologies, spending time this year at the China New Energy VehicleTechnology Training Centre and the Great Wall Motors (GWM) productionfactory and research centres in Beijing, and visiting BYD Headquartersand VISION Batteries Research and Development Centre in Shenzhen China.He has recently return from overseas where he studied the latest in hydrogenfuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) technology, and has completed training atToyota’s Hydrogen Centre of Excellence on the Toyota Mirai platform.
